  The future vision of the Women’s Empowerment Unit in our institute is evident through its achievement of the following:

1 Preparing and organizing programs, courses, workshops and seminars on everything related to women and their empowerment in various areas of life.

  1. Linking the Women’s Empowerment Unit in our institute with various official departments concerned with women’s affairs and effective cooperation with them.

  2. Collecting and distributing aid to women with low income

The mission of the Women’s Empowerment Unit in our institute begins with creating an institutional framework that supports women in line with best practices in the field of women’s empowerment, so that it is compatible with raising the level of women’s participation in quantity and quality in various fields, and the percentage of their representation in important positions and decision-making by overcoming the difficulties facing their participation in In all fields, to be a pioneering and effective element in sustainable development, and to occupy an appropriate position.

Aims

 TThe Women’s Empowerment Unit at our institute work to achieve the following aims:

  1. Combating violence against women in all its forms and manifestations, and educating society about the status of women and their rights by holding a group of awareness-raising and educational courses and seminars on the most prominent women’s rights and freedoms.

  1. Urging and encouraging the female staff at our institute to assume leadership positions in the Ministry of Higher Education by highlighting their competence and achievements.

 

 Economic empowerment of women by providing suitable job opportunities for them in various fields because expanding economic opportunities for women is a decisive factor in women’s empowerment.

 

Activities of the Women’s Empowerment Unit
 

As part of its efforts to enhance cultural and social awareness among students, the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute organized a cultural workshop  for students of the Accounting Technology Department. The chapter was titled “The Phenomenon of Harassment and Its Effects on Society,” and included a lecture given by Mr. Assist. Lect. Hussein Ahmed Abd.

During the lecture, the lecturer addressed the definition of the phenomenon of harassment, its forms and the reasons for its spread, while highlighting its negative effects on victims and society. He also provided a set of instructions and recommendations to students on how to confront this phenomenon and promote the values ​​of respect and social responsibility.

The Women’s Affairs Unit confirmed that this initiative comes within the framework of its plans to enhance awareness of sensitive social issues and encourage students to adopt positive behaviors that contribute to building a cohesive and safe society.

The activity was well received by the students and attendees, and the importance of continuing such awareness activities was emphasized because of their positive impact in improving the educational and community environment.

Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute – Women’s Affairs Unit organized a symposium entitled “Women’s Political Rights and Freedoms in the Iraqi Constitution”, presented by Mrs. Fatima Jakhim Sharad.
The symposium discussed the most important rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Iraqi Constitution for women, with a focus on their role in political life and mechanisms for enhancing their participation in decision-making positions. The challenges facing women in the political field and ways to overcome them were also highlighted.
During the symposium, the lady stressed the importance of increasing societal awareness of the importance of women’s role in the political process, and called for the implementation of laws that ensure that they are able to fully exercise their rights
The Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute held an educational symposium entitled “Duties and Rights of the Public Employee in the Republic of Iraq According to the State Constitution of 2005.”
 
 Ms. Nadia Hamid gave a comprehensive lecture on the most important points contained in the Iraqi Constitution of 2005 regarding the duties and rights of the public employee.
The lecture discussed employees’ obligations towards public service and their role in promoting integrity and transparency, in addition to their rights guaranteed by the Constitution to ensure a fair and stable work environment. Laws related to penalties and violations were also highlighted to ensure that employees adhere to the principles of job work.
This symposium aims to enhance legal and employment awareness among attendees, thus contributing to raising the level of job performance and consolidating professional values.
The Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute organized a workshop entitled “Economic Empowerment of Iraqi Women in the Field of Entrepreneurship.”
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of enhancing the role of Iraqi women in the economic field and encouraging them to engage in entrepreneurship, which contributes to achieving sustainable development and increasing women’s participation in economic life.
The lecture was given by Mrs. Assist. Lect. Zainab Shaker Jubeir, where she addressed various topics on the concept of entrepreneurship, planning skills for small projects, and mechanisms for empowering women economically through creating innovative job opportunities, and stressed the importance of community and institutional support to achieve these goals.
This workshop comes within a series of activities organized by the Institute with the aim of empowering women and supporting their active role in Iraqi society.
The Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute held a panel discussion entitled “Violence against Women,” as part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness of women’s issues and rights.
The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Qahtan Al-Fatlawi, Dean of the Institute, in the presence of a large number of male and female members of the teaching and administrative staff. The seminar discussed various forms of violence against women, its causes and effects on society, in addition to reviewing possible solutions and measures to reduce this phenomenon.
During his opening speech, Dr. Al-Fatlawi praised the importance of such discussions in enhancing awareness and emphasizing the pivotal role of women in building society. He also called on the audience to work together to spread a culture of respect for women’s rights and combat all forms of violence and discrimination.
The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations and proposals that would contribute to creating a safe and sustainable environment that supports women’s rights and enhances their status
Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute – Women’s Affairs Unit held a workshop entitled “Employee Rights and Duties,” as part of a series of awareness-raising activities that the Institute is keen to organize.
Present at the workshop was Mr. Lect. Sami Hatem Matar, who gave a comprehensive and detailed presentation on the most important rights guaranteed by the law to employees, and highlighted the most prominent duties they must adhere to while performing their work. The workshop also addressed aspects related to professional ethics and the importance of promoting a healthy and productive work environment.
The organization of this workshop comes within the framework of the keenness of the Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute to enhance institutional awareness and spread the culture of work based on rights and duties, which will reflect positively on the overall performance of the institution.
The Women’s Affairs Unit at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute organized a course entitled “Political Empowerment of Women in Iraq: Opportunities and Challenges”, in which Mr. Assist. Lect. Razzaq Hail Salloum lectured.
 
The course aimed to enhance awareness of the importance of women’s participation in political life and highlight the challenges they face and the opportunities available to them to achieve empowerment in this field.
 
The course reviewed many topics related to the role of women in promoting democracy, the cultural and social challenges that hinder their political progress, and ways to stimulate their effective participation in decision-making positions. The lecturer provided comprehensive insights on how to enhance women’s political empowerment by supporting legislation and policies that support their role in building society.
On Thursday, 10/31/2024 (October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month), Al- Rumaitha Technical Institute – Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Al-Muthanna Health Department – Mental Health Office, organized an awareness symposium under the title “Methods of breast cancer prevention and early detection.” With the aim of increasing awareness among women about the importance of early detection and prevention methods.
 
During the symposium, university nurse Taif Ali Hassoun gave a lecture in which she discussed the most prominent risk factors associated with breast cancer, such as genetic factors, dietary pattern, and lifestyle, in addition to tips to reduce these risks by adopting healthy habits, such as balanced nutrition and regular physical activity.
 
She also touched on the importance of regular examination and early detection as one of the most effective ways to reduce the death rate resulting from breast cancer. Methods of self-examination and periodic mammogram examinations were presented, which are among the basic means of detecting tumors in their early stages, which increases the chances of treatment.
 
Rumaitha Technical Institute holds a workshop entitled (Website development). )
The Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Continuous Education Unit at Al- Rumaitha Technical Institute, held a workshop entitled (Website Development)  in which Ms. Woroud Farhan lectured. 
The workshop included developing modern mechanisms and work plans, and some important points for developing websites so that these websites keep pace with the progress taking place in international universities. The workshop recommended the need to pay attention to websites, which are the main portal in evaluation, and provide more means of support to the community by transferring scientific and cultural knowledge from These are academic edifices to society.

 

Rumaitha Technical Institute holds a workshop about green education
The Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with Continuous Education at Al- Rumaitha Technical Institute, held a workshop entitled (Green Education, a Future Direction in the Digital Age)
The workshop, in which the Women’s Affairs Unit Officer, Ms. Zainab Shaker Jubeir, lectured, discussed the benefits of green education in using educational technologies in a sound manner in terms of environmental standards.
The workshop discussed the necessity of increasing green spaces and studying the benefits of green education and its relationship to sustainable development in preserving the environment in its various aspects and elements.
The workshop touched on the importance of creating an interactive green environment between the teacher and the learner and preparing conscious generations as the nucleus of a green society responsible for preserving the environment.

The symposium, in which Ms. Woroud Farhan lectured, aimed to introduce the academic community to a healthy work environment for women.
The symposium clarified the definition of the work environment, the challenges that women face in society and the work environment, and the factors that help develop the work environment and make it healthier for working women.
The symposium showed that a healthy work environment increases women’s productivity at work within governmental and private institutions.
The symposium also focused on the importance of balance between work and private life because of its significant impact on women’s self-care and safety 
The provisions for protecting maternity and childhood in institutions were also discussed

Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute/Women’s Empowerment Unit held a symposium entitled (The phenomenon of harassment and its negative effects on society). 
The symposium, in which Mrs. Maryam Muhammad Sawadi lectured, aimed to introduce the academic community to this negative phenomenon and ways to address or eliminate it.
The symposium clarified the definition of harassment, its causes, and the factors that help spread this phenomenon, including weak religious faith, weak law, crowding, and the tyranny of self-interest.
The symposium showed that harassment is not only directed at women, but harassment is sometimes directed at a child or a man, reviewing the rulings issued against the harasser, the penalties of which reach many years.
The symposium considered unemployment to be a primary cause of harassment. A young man who suffers from financial instability and does not find anything to occupy him throughout the day is vulnerable to all kinds of influences, but unemployment alone does not mean that a man turns into a harasser. Rather, unemployment here must be linked to his social and cultural background.

Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute organized a scientific workshop entitled (The Role of Iraqi Women in Political Life) and in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Unit. The workshop included a lecture in which Professor Ms. Zainab Shaker Jubair, head of the Women’s Empowerment Unit, addressed the limited participation of women and its reasons, including constitutional and legal, or related to the system. The Women’s Empowerment Unit, in cooperation with the Continuous Education Center at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute, organized an awareness workshop entitled “Methods of breast cancer prevention and early detection.”
Lecturing at the symposium was Ass. Lect. Zeinab Shaker, at Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute
She gave the symposium to the attendees with a detailed explanation of the risk factors and causes of the disease, methods of early detection, how to self-examination, the most important signs indicating the onset of the disease, and how to avoid it and limit its spread.
