Rumaitha Technical Institute holds a scientific symposium entitled (The phenomenon of harassment and its negative effects on society)
Al-Rumaitha Technical Institute/Women’s Empowerment Unit held a symposium entitled (The phenomenon of harassment and its negative effects on society).
The symposium, in which Mrs. Maryam Muhammad Sawadi lectured, aimed to introduce the academic community to this negative phenomenon and ways to address or eliminate it.
The symposium clarified the definition of harassment, its causes, and the factors that help spread this phenomenon, including weak religious faith, weak law, crowding, and the tyranny of self-interest.
The symposium showed that harassment is not only directed at women, but harassment is sometimes directed at a child or a man, reviewing the rulings issued against the harasser, the penalties of which reach many years.
The symposium considered unemployment to be a primary cause of harassment. A young man who suffers from financial instability and does not find anything to occupy him throughout the day is vulnerable to all kinds of influences, but unemployment alone does not mean that a man turns into a harasser. Rather, unemployment here must be linked to his social and cultural background.
